Description
Sage
SAGE Extract w/s with its botanical name Salvia Officinalis (Sage) is derived from the leaves and whole plant.
Sage 1:2 is a purifying botanical extract rich in phenolic acids, flavonoids, and essential oil components. It is widely used in cosmetic formulations for its balancing, toning, and antioxidant properties. Sage helps refine pores, reduce surface oiliness, and support a clearer complexion.
Sage is found to be able to reduce irritated skin, can purify skin and may help with controlling dandruff. It can be used for insect bites, throat, mouth, gum and skin infections, as well as vaginal discharge. It contains rosmarinic acid that has good antioxidant properties, which is reinforced by the picrosalvin also found in Sage.
It has antimicrobial and antiviral effects and is often used in hair care to combat greasy and oily hair by regulating the sebum production of the scalp. It is also potentially used to treat various skin problems, such as acne due to its sebum regulatory action.
Mode of action, phenolic acids provide antimicrobial and purifying benefits, while flavonoids offer antioxidant protection. Sage’s mild astringency contributes to a tightening and refining effect, making it ideal for combination or blemish‑prone skin.
