Ginkgo Extract WS
Description
Ginkgo Extract WS,
Ginkgo or Ginkgo biloba (maidenhair tree) is one of the world’s oldest living tree species, geological records indicate this plant has been growing on earth for 150 – 200 million years. Chinese monks are credited with keeping the tree in existence, as a sacred herb. It was first brought to Europe in the 1700’s. It is one of the well-researched herbs in the world.
Ginkgo is a revitalising botanical extract rich in flavone glycosides, terpene lactones, and antioxidant polyphenols. It is widely used in cosmetic formulations for its strong antioxidant, microcirculation‑supportive, and skin‑protective properties. Ginkgo helps improve the appearance of dull or fatigued skin, supports a more even complexion, and enhances environmental resilience.
Mode of Action: ginkgo flavonoids help neutralise free radicals, while terpene lactones support microcirculation and oxygenation. This combination makes ginkgo particularly effective in anti‑aging, revitalising, and protective skincare. The extract of ginkgo leaves is used medicinally, in many countries around the world where it’s amongst one of the most popular medicinal herbs. In traditional Chinese medicine, the seeds of the ginkgo tree are often used.
